SEED TALKS: A HISTORY OF TAROT CARDS
Date: Tuesday 22 July
Times: 7pm - 9.30pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
What makes tarot such a compelling tool for reflection, insight, and even transformation?
In this talk, we’ll explore how tarot works not just as a way to predict the future, but as a tool for spiritual growth. Rich in symbols, emotions and archetypes, tarot offers a way to better understand ourselves and the world around us.
We’ll start with how tarot is used today, then trace its roots back to the Italian Renaissance. Thinkers like Pico della Mirandola were searching for a way to talk to angels – a kind of spiritual language – and this quest helped shape the deeper meanings tarot still carries.
We’ll then take a closer look at three powerful cards: the High Priestess, Temperance, and the Devil, and explore what they might be saying. Finally, we’ll explore the explosion of tarot design in recent years, and why so many people turn to tarot to make sense of the world.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

‘CAN DEGROWTH SAVE THE WORLD?’ - SCREENING & DISCUSSION
Date: Wednesday 23 July
Times: 7pm - 8.30pm
Place: Auditorium, Level 5/6
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Come along and watch a free screening of the documentary ‘Can Degrowth save the world?’ and join a local discussion on degrowth after. Lets link the theme of degrowth with local issues like housing, and how we can to take action at grassroots level.
The film maker Alvaro Alvarez will be in attendance to introduce his film and lead a discussion after. We hope to have a few local activists and degrowth experts to add to the discussion.
Please be prepared to show your Eventbrite ticket upon entering the auditorium.
Can Degrowth save the world?
A group of academics and activists are questioning the possibility of endless economic growth on a finite planet and are advocating for a bold solution: degrowth. Originating in France, the degrowth movement has spread to places like Japan, the UK and Barcelona, taking root in academia, grassroots organisations and among university students. The movement argues for a 'democratisation of the economy' and for collectively managing key resources, like housing. Critics argue that opposing economic growth is impractical and warn of negative consequences, especially for the most vulnerable. We take a look at the theory - and ask what the practice might look like.
We will be the auditorium at Peckham Levels. Feel free to arrive early or stay after to grab a drink at the bar, and/or order from onsite food vendors.

SEED TALKS: THE SCIENCE OF PSYCHEDELICS
Date: Tuesday 26 August
Times: 7pm - 9.30pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Join us for an in-depth examination of traditional and modern psychedelics, including their benefits for mental health. Followed by Q+A.
Psychedelic drugs have a tumultuous history. Indigenous communities have used them for healing and visionary experiences for thousands of years. Now psychedelics are back in the spotlight and entering the mainstream, with clinical trials exploring their therapeutic use for mental health disorders like depression, anxiety and addiction. Groundbreaking science has uncovered that these substances have effects on the brain, affecting connectivity patterns that govern day-to-day functioning.
This talk will cover the key findings coming from contemporary research with psychedelics, and hint at what is next in store for psychedelic science and the potential impact on society at large

SEED TALKS: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF TRAUMA AND EMOTIONS
Date: Tuesday 1 July
Times: 7pm - 9.30pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Explore the impact of trauma on our everyday regulation of emotions and discover strategies to develop better control.
Why do traumatic experiences leave such a lasting imprint on the mind and body? How does trauma shape emotional responses, leading to overwhelming feelings, shutdown, or unpredictable reactions? Trauma can keep you stuck in survival mode, making it hard to manage emotions or feel safe in your body.
In this talk, we’ll unpack the psychological and neurological mechanisms behind trauma and emotional dysregulation, exploring the roles of the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex. We’ll examine how trauma affects the nervous system, causing hyperarousal, dissociation, or emotional numbness, and why certain triggers provoke intense responses. We’ll also explore the window of tolerance and ways to expand it, as well as simple, science-backed techniques like grounding, breathwork, and self-soothing strategies to shift from reactivity to calm. This talk provides a deeper understanding of emotional dysregulation and pathways to healing for mental health professionals, those with lived experience, or anyone curious about trauma’s impact.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early and get a good seat!

Time: 7.30pm - 10pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Trinity Laban Shapeshifter Ensemble x Peckham Levels
Rule Breakers: The roaring twenties and creative pioneers.
America gave birth to jazz, but Paris was the first to hail it as an art.
The creative scene in 1920s and 1930s Paris brought together artists, musicians, dancers, costume designers and writers to form a community who pioneered the ground-breaking artistic developments that defined the twentieth century. From Picasso, Man Ray and Hemingway to Josephine Baker, Isadora Duncan, Gertrude Stein and F. Scott Fitzgerald, the city gave life shaped the modern age.
Musically, Igor Stravinsky is probably the best-known name – and personality – of the era, with his collaborations with Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes. Tonight, Trinity Laban’s Shapeshifter Ensemble celebrate other pioneers in Paris and the USA that might be familiar or new to you. Arthur Honegger, Jacques Ibert and Darius Milhaud defined music in France in the period, as well as American modernist, folk musicologist and composer Ruth Crawford Seeger in the USA.
Hear their work alongside Stravinsky and a brand new work from one of the Composition students in celebration of this era of creativity.

SEED TALKS: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF CARL JUNG
Date: Tuesday 13 May
Times: 7pm - 9.30pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Have you ever wondered what our dreams and imagination can say about our inner psychology? Join Seed Talks for an illuminating introduction to the psychology of Carl Jung and his groundbreaking ideas about the creative, healing power of the unconscious.
A founding father of depth psychology, Jung was a maverick thinker, artist and visionary whose ideas were ahead of his time. His extensive studies of ancient religions and mythologies, alongside his deep dream work, brought him to the edge of sanity. Through this work, he developed the pioneering concepts of the collective unconscious, the archetypes (including the shadow and the self), synchronicity, individuation, creative self-realisation and more.
This talk will explore key Jungian concepts in relation to how Jung combined ancient Eastern wisdom with Western psychology. You’ll learn how this can be understood as a form of ‘sacred science’ reflecting the spiritual crisis of late-stage capitalism and how Jung’s thought places us inside a larger reality transcending space and time. We’ll look at the instrumental role of imagination, dreams and symbols in Jung’s approach to psychoanalysis, including his innovative technique of active imagination or ‘dreaming awake’. We’ll consider how Jung’s psychoanalysis is still relevant today as a powerful, transformative tool to access the unknown and facilitate creativity in support of both individual and collective growth.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!
Dr Rachel Newsome is a Jungian-based writer and teacher. She holds a doctorate in applying Jungian psychoanalysis to creative writing and is the founder of Depth Writing With Dr Rachel, a holistic creative learning programme aimed at supporting transformational growth. EXHIBITION: ECHOES OF PRESENCE
Dates: 30 April - 02 May
Location: UAL Space, Level 6
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
About the exhibition:
Echoes of Presence is an exhibition rooted in the shared exploration of traces: the subtle, often overlooked marks that shape our understanding of space, memory, and presence.
As Spatial Design practitioners, our collective research centres on the palimpsest, space as layered, lived-in, and rewritten. Through a workshop with students and tutors, both intentional and unconscious marks were made visible.
This exhibition becomes both an archive and a collaborative reflection, inviting you into our thought process as we interpret hidden stories and consider how time and touch shape the spaces we inhabit, and how we shape them in return.
Echoes of Presence is the outcome of a collaboration between MA students in Interior and Spatial Design at UAL. Brought together through shared themes in their research, they come from varied creative fields, including architecture, sculpture, product, and interior design each offering different approaches and sensibilities to the exploration of presence and trace.

SEED TALKS: MOVING FROM ANXIOUS TO SECURE ATTACHMENT
Date: Tuesday 15 April
Times: 7pm - 9.30pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Understand your attachment style, learn how to become more securely attached and get confident in connection.
In this talk you will learn about how your early attachment and how you were treated when you were young may be influencing how you show up in relationships now. You may be anxiously attached and acting so fast that the other person feels scared. Or you might be avoidantly attached and waiting so long to reply to someone that they move on. When you have awareness about your attachment style then you can begin to make more conscious choices about your behaviour and become more securely attached.
Once you understand more about your attachment style, you can also notice your nervous system and what happens when you get activated — do you switch off, get disassociated, speed up, flee, fight or fawn? What helps you to calm down, feel your feet and allow yourself to become steady?
Opening your heart to feeling more secure in relationships can be a gradual and ongoing process. This talk will get you started on your journey of stepping through the fear and into a new life. I will share my top tips so that you can begin to make new choices, with kindness and compassion for yourself (and room for mistakes), and ultimately allowing the fullness of you to flourish.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

In this talk, we will delve deep into the neuroscience of music, discovering how elements such as rhythm, pitch and timbre interact with our brains. A fascinating, yet often understated area of research, the neuroscience of music broadens our understanding of what music actually is, questioning why we respond to sounds in certain ways, and for what reason music is found in every society, across all corners of the globe. We will look at the many parts of the brain involved with music, from our memory to our speech processing and to our emotion and reward systems. We will explore the role of music in evolution, considering questions such as why we make and listen to music.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

He has given presentations at the Wellcome Collection and Royal Institution, run a Live Science residency at the Science Museum, and collaborated with the London Sinfonietta to produce a free iOS app for developing rhythm skills called Steve Reich's Clapping Music, described by the New York Times as "maddeningly addictive".

SEED TALKS: THE SCIENCE OF ADHD
Date: Tuesday 11 March
Times: 7pm - 9.30pm
Place: The Gig Space, Level 5
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
Join Seed Talks for this engaging talk about ADHD, exploring the neuroscience, symptoms, the positives, the struggles + much more. Followed by Q+A.
A simple scroll through Instagram or TikTok and you’ll be left questioning: do I have ADHD? The rise in ADHD in adults is undeniable. But only over the last decade has ADHD been formally recognised in the UK. It has been suggested that about 1.5 million adults in the UK have ADHD but only 120,000 have been diagnosed. Waiting times to access an adult ADHD specialist clinic in the NHS can be up to 2 years or more. It’s hard to find support and help.
From dopamine dips, hits and myths, how ADHD can present differently in women than men, and the neuroscience of neurodiversity; this talk is designed to give you an increased awareness and understanding of an ADHD brain. It will include advice and tips on how to navigate a neurotypical world as a neurodivergent person.
This talk will also highlight how society is demanding change. People are increasingly recognising and accepting neurodiversity and self-defining as neurodivergent. Surely, it’s time for the world to alter neurotypical societal standards as they are fast becoming outdated.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

Performance times: 1pm & 4pm
Place: The Auditorium, Levels 5 & 6
Access: There is step-free access via a lift
The latest in Poltergeist Theatre’s immersive London performances, The Things is a clown theatre show for family audiences, inspired by the historical objects uncovered by archaeologists.
The Things are two creatures who have happily lived in the dusty archives of history for, well, nobody knows how long. They dig through the ancient mud of the city, collect their favourite things, and that’s that. But then one day, their treasures of history begin to speak back...
It turns out every object has its own tale to tell.
Join The Things on a journey through time, as they unlock stories that have been buried for centuries. They’ll come across mud-wrestling skeletons, a choir of buried trees, a villainous snail, and much more...
So what are you waiting for? Grab a spade, dig into the dirt, and become part of the fun. By getting lost in the past, what might we learn about ourselves today?
The Things follows hot on the heels of Poltergeist’s acclaimed festive family shows, and is a collaboration between Poltergeist Theatre and MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology), connecting families with archeological finds through interactive comedy performance.
