Ealing is one of the birthplaces of British electric blues — a neighbourhood where musical legends were born, and countless old chairs now sit in quiet corners.

“Seated in the Sound” invites you to sit on four unique music chairs, each echoing a different chapter in the journey of Ealing blues.

Through sound, story, and interaction, we hope young audiences can reconnect with the forgotten roots of British blues — not just to listen, but to feel, to wonder, to pause. Come join us for an interactive music performance and experience the blues in a whole new way.

About the artists:
This project was led by RCA designers Jiali Shao, Hengsong Zhang, Ziwei Fu, and Jialu Shen, co-created with artist Monica Drabot, Shan Lyu, Zhuoqi Liu, Zhiqi Li, and developed in close collaboration with Alistair Young, founder of The Ealing Club.

A long-term installation is planned for the underground walkway of the Ealing shopping mall, aiming to make the rich cultural legacy of Ealing more visible, tangible, and emotionally resonant for the local community.
